What makes the perfect rooster? In this episode, we apply Plato's philosophy to a flock of opinionated man chickens, rank our most "roostery" roosters, and introduce you to the colorful cast of characters living in Havencroft's bachelor flock. Along the way, we share spring sanctuary updates, welcome some adorable new call ducks, talk about why rooster rescues matter, and explain the surprisingly complicated art of keeping dozens of rescued birds happy and healthy.
Episode 7: The Great Goatsby
It's graduation season, so we're handing out yearbook superlatives—Havencroft style! Which animal is Most Likely to Succeed? Biggest Diva? Class Clown? Most Likely to Steal Your Lunch? We also introduce three new rescue goats, show off the goats' new playground, celebrate baby birds, and imagine what cliques all of our sanctuary residents would belong to if Havencroft were a high school. It's part yearbook, part animal personality test, and entirely ridiculous.

What happens when you hand the microphone to a hilarious ten-and-a-half-year-old and ask her to judge an entire animal sanctuary?
In this episode, my niece Sa'leigha joins me to share her favorite Havencroft animals, answer ridiculous "Would You Rather?" questions, hand out completely unofficial superlatives, and decide which resident is most likely to steal your lunch—or accidentally start the apocalypse. Along the way, we swap rescue stories, talk horses, and discover that kids often have surprisingly thoughtful things to say about kindness, animals, and the world around them.
